How was Bustagrip company started?

The project was started in 1997 by a collective of underground hip-hop and graffiti artists. We traveled a lot during these times to London and New York, and our friends were actively involved in starting cult hip-hop bands and legendary graffiti crews here in Poland. As a rebel Slavic nation we wanted to express our identity by creating our own brand based on our philosophy, lifestyle choice and influences from our home region. This was our dream, and with help from our friends and colleagues Bustagrip was born.


Why did we choose such a name for the brand?

The name Bustagrip is a blend of our anti-disestablishment philosophies and the recognizable styles used to create our footwear. We chose an aggressive name for our brand in order to convey our rebellious ethos.


When did the brand become popular and why?

Bustagrip popularity grew in the beginning of 2000 due to our continued involvement in the organization and support of hip-hop concerts, and our homegrown graffiti crews and their international counterparts. We developed successful advertising and marketing campaigns supported by the creation of limited edition footwear for many of the performing artists.


Does company location influence our style?

Yes, location does influence our style. We bring fresh Slavic ideas to the European streetwear scene and during recent years many alternative shops from around the world have embraced and supported our vision and designs.

How to explain the "philosophy" of the brand in a couple of sentences?

The philosophy is easy:
"Do your job to the best of your ability and enjoy doing it".
We are an alternative company with our roots in streetwear, hip hop and graffiti culture. We do not work as a big corporation just to make money; our brand is the essence of our lifestyle!


Is hip-hop audience important to your company and can we say that Bustagrip is hip-hop brand?

Absolutely, hip hop music was one of the important influences for us and our lifestyle choice. Bustagrip is definitely a hip hop culture brand.


Which artists have been involved in Bustagrip advertising and are fans of the brand?

Until recently, the artists involved have been from our local scenes, including: PAKTOFONIKA, DELUXE, PCP, ELEGANCE and graffiti crews DSC, and EWC, newcomers include Joe True a hip-hop artist and crew from Denmark.


As popularity broadens Bustagrip footwear is becoming available in more and more hip-hop stores around the world, we are always on the look out for, and regularly meeting many new talented artists. Work is in progress, so watch this space...


What events do Bustagrip sponsor?

We supported and organized many gigs, video clips and hip hop events by all this time. There were also big support for underground graffiti tours to many places in the world.


What is the most popular model of Bustagrip?

Of course this depends upon personal choice. Many of our Bustagrip models are very popular and trends change with each collection. However, we would say that our classic yellow boots are the number one model to date.
